Men are 48% more likely to die of cancer than women.* The John Wayne Cancer Foundation is dedicated to changing this statistic. We're currently in the process of creating programs for the advocacy and support of men fighting cancer.

Men fight cancer not only as patients, but as fathers, husbands and friends too; often preferring to go it alone rather than ask for help.

Men can have a difficult time accepting the diagnosis, facing the emotional and physical challenges of cancer, and as a provider, may be unprepared for the practical changes that cancer brings to life. In addition, many men don't know the best way to support loved ones who have been diagnosed with cancer. For women, the foundation will offer insight into these challenges men face, so family members and caregivers are better equipped to provide the kind of support they need.

The JWCF will tap into the spirit of John Wayne to guide men through the adversity of cancer with dignity, masculinity, courage, generosity, and love of life. We are currently developing new programs for 2008 for the advocacy and support of men fighting cancer. Take a survey to help us shape these programs.
